Gamerscore, which is the system used by Microsoft on the Xbox 360 to rank players’ skill, is a pain to get. It’s nice to have, and provides good bragging rights, but it can be tricky to amass a good amount of gamerscore. Gamerscore is gained by getting achievements. An achievement could be pretty much anything in a game – finishing a level, beating the game on hard, getting a certain amount of kills, etc. Most games have 1,000 gamerscore available, and anywhere from 5-100 achievements. Each achievement has a different gamerscore value attached to it.

There are many ways to boost gamerscore, but the easiest is probably to enlist the help of some friends. If you can get a few friends together you can cheat the system and do what many call “gamerscore boosting”. For example, if you’re playing a driving game and there’s an achievement to win a race on the hardest difficulty, you can have a few friends play and just mess around while you win the race. It’s very simple, and it can boost your gamerscore very quickly.

Another way is to borrow or rent games. Most xbox games have a few VERY easy achievements, and the majority of the time you will get 200-500+ gamerscore just for completing the main storyline. So just borrow a few of your friends games (or rent some of them), and play through them quickly. Also, Xbox 360 sports games are very good for gamerscore boosting, as they have easy achievements. Unless you want a high completion percentage, this can be a great way to boost gamerscore.

You can also play games that you really enjoy, and eventually the achievements will come. Personally I don’t enjoy playing games JUST for gamerscore, so I just play the games I really like, and eventually I get most or all of the achievements.
